A very interesting tour de force through the vineyards and industrial regions of South Tyrol. Looking back, a colorful kaleidoscope of impressions, but also relaxing hours in what I found to be a very pleasant hotel. I personally would have liked more time for the workshop, not too much, but maybe another half a day. I made very interesting contacts and spent days rich in variety.”

In the history of South Tyrol is the permanent willingness of the population to prepare itself for a future with challenges. New tasks and the interdisciplinary approach that lies in the communication of all involved open new horizons. These are the strengths of the small region with its rich tradition, whose companies prepare for international competition and impress with their know-how.
Thank you for the good management. It is certainly no easy task to guide a “pack” of individualists with charm, friendliness, and firmness. But you were successful. The trip was interesting and full of adventures. Interesting, because I have already reported to acquaintances about it,… it’s always a good sign when there’s something to talk about.

I was very happy and excited about coming to South Tyrol, which I was familiar with from vacations years ago. I was quite surprised by the economic and cultural development of the last decades and by the great, multifaceted architectural scene in South Tyrol. The encounters with craftsmen, industry, spatial and traffic planning, etc. gave insights into building culture, economy, and regional development and the emerging opportunity for the future that networking presents.
The new culture of building and technology is evident and is being followed closely in the world. It is true to the esthetic modernism and the tradition of South Tyrol, apparent in the architectural and technical expression of the frequently practiced building with wood. The lectures, excursions, workshops, and discussions on the topics of architecture and technology in the Alpine regions of South Tyrol and dealing with the topography, climate, culture, and landscape in this regard were very enriching for me and encourage further contacts. A great success!

Nein, die Rede ist hier nicht vom WM-Spiel Deutschland gegen Australien in Südafrika, sondern von alpitecture code 2-10 in Südtirol.
Drei Tage mit 36°C, in welchen die Teilnehmer kompakte Informationen über das Land und seine Baukultur erhielten, die neue Architektur vor Ort bewunderten und alle Erfahrungen in die Aufgabenstellung der Workshops einfließen ließen. Einer der Höhepunkte war der Vortrag von Astrid Piber über das UNStudio Desgin Modell mit anschließender Podiumsdiskussion. Hier war der dramaturgische „Siedepunkt“ erreicht und alle freuten sich auf die erfrischenden Getränke und das leckere Buffet in der Sommernacht.
Dass die Hitze lähmte wurde erst gar nicht zugelassen. Die Begrüßung und Vorstellung der 37 international tätigen Architekten erfolgte in der Handelskammer Bozen nach einer Hausführung und einem Imbiss ging es dann weiter ins Thermen Hotel Meran. Nicht um zu baden, sondern um Vorträge über die baukulturelle Entwicklung des Landes, die Architektur zwischen zwei Kulturen und die Regionalentwicklung zu hören. Erfrischend wirkte ein Spaziergang zur Kunst Meran und durch die Ausstellung „WohnRaumAlpen“. Sehr heiß und zukunftsweisend folgte im Kurhaus Meran ein Vortrag von Plasma Studio, London, Sexten. Der Tag endete im Moccaria mit einem leckeren Menü.
Architektur pur, könnte das Motto des zweiten Tages gelautet haben. Kreative Bauwerke gaben durch Bauherren und Architekten ihre Geheimnise preis. Noch kurz vor der offiziellen Eröffnung der Erweiterung der Kellerei Tramin traten die Teilnehmer mit dem Architekten Werner Tscholl durch die symbolische Rebstockranke und stiegen tief hinab in den roten Lagerkeller. Ein ebenso großes Raumgefühl überkam jedem beim Betreten der Pfarrkirche Leifers durch das alte Kirchenschiff in den von Höller & Klotzner Architekten gestalteten Anbau. Der Raum, eher eine Halle, komplett in Holz ausgebaut mit seiner schrägen und gebogenen Umhüllung und weichen Lichtführung lässt seine wahre Größe nicht erspüren. Überrascht waren die Teilnehmer von der Qualität und den Innovationen der Partnerunternehmen von alpitecture. Hier wurden Produkte vorgestellt die es weltweit mit jeder Konkurrenz aufnehmen können.
Welchen Eindruck haben die Teilnehmer nun von Südtirol gewonnen? Zwischen allem Positiven wurde auch Defizite im Umgang mit dem Bauen und der Fläche erkannt. Überraschend waren die hochwertigen Ergebnisse der Workshops, die in einem knappen Zeitrahmen erarbeitet wurden und die Podiumsdiskussion am Abend einflossen.
